This thing looks beautiful in picture and i thought it would have been made of solid brass....it is made of cheap plastic...not worth 10 dollars let alone what they are asking...
Plastic on the outside but Grohe quality in the parts inside,

Grohe is expensive stuff. There is no doubt about that. Their stuff is beautiful and they give a really great guarantee.
But this part is a plastic part like many/most shower fixtures of this type are. You are paying for the Grohe name and for it matching the style of other Grohe fixtures. I really love the way these look (I've got nearly the full set with shower heads and the fancy mixing valve.)
But the stuff is very expensive for the name and the "style" where in some of the parts (like this one) they are still plastic covers. The brass bit under that is the actual plumbing fixture is really well made chromed brass.
If you buy Grohe you are going to spend a lot. That's just the way it is. With this part you probably could save some money finding another brand of wall union that was in brushed nickel and matched the rest of the set fairly well. I did that with the hose to the hand-held showerhead and saved about eighty bucks for a lower-cost...Read more
