We bought this with the Moen trim kit T2152 and the instructions do not say how far into the wall the valve needs to be for this trim kit....unfortunatly, we are stuck with a shower handle that sticks out about and inch and a half from the wall - ugly. The wall was already finished so without tearing it ALL apart it can not be fixed. Moen sells a part for $80 + that will take up about 1/2 inch, ugh!
This was a professional who installed. We thought he should have known better. Still, we are stuck.
Found reviews on line that said you need a 6" wall for this trim kit and valve.

This PosiTemp valve is absolutely a nightmare for my family. The hot water started to be less hot than it originally was six months ago. It was summer so that my kids were still showering in lukewarm water. About a month ago, it became unbearable and we had to hire a plumber to come get a look. The first plumber told us to pretty much take the wall down and replace the valve. Finally, the 3rd plumber told us to replace the valve cartridge (only $30 part) and recommended us to contact Moen. I called Moen about the issue and they seem to be aware of this problem but never issued a recall. I told them it's cost us over $200 in labor just to diagnose the problem. They only offered to expedite shipping to send the cartridge to use overnight. I wish I'd able to contact a attorney to find out if Moen should be liable for the labor cost if they are truly aware of this existing issue. Please leave me comments on this review if you have experienced the same problem.
