Product Review

Slide-Glide Standard (medium viscosity) Applications: 60+ degrees F; Semi-automatic, Centerfire Firearms. Advantages over other oils and greases: Softens felt recoil in semi-autos; It's super "stringy" - it stays where you put it - forever. It is blended with the highest-grade extreme pressure compound available. Slide-Glide provides a dramatic improvement in lubrication compared to conventional oils and greases such as lithium, or lithium-based metallic greases containing molybdenum or graphite. It is engineered to have a stringy characteristic that prevents "tracking" or shearing on sliding metal surfaces. It stays put - ceaselessly dragging itself back into the friction areas of the cycling slide and barrel. It's stringy characteristic keeps the grease between the moving parts - noticeably softening the felt recoil of semi-atuomatic pistols. Your pistol just feels "smoother" when you shoot it. And Slide-Glide isn't just for semi-auto pistols. It slicks up revolver actions, pump and semi-automatic shotguns, semi-automatic, bolt and lever-action rifles, and even your Dillon reloading press.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best for Sigs, February 18, 2010

I own a Sig P226 and let me see that I cannot believe it took me so long to try this product out. I've gone so long just using BreakFree CLP and other oils. Nothing wrong with those products (still use them on springs and such), but for a gun like a Sig that likes to run "wet"... grease is a must. As far as greases that work really good on slides.. nothing beats this. I have both the Medium and Lite product to use depending on temperature and whether or not I'm going out with my conversion kit (lite for the conversion kit and used during cold weather). Immediately, after application.. you'll feel the difference on your slide. It's like there's some kind of buffering effect. Shame my slide had to take somewhat of a beating before I discovered this product. On a side note.. I purchased leur lock syringes and blunt needles (both of which I purchased on Amazon) to help apply this product directly on the rails of the slide.

This is a great product if you want to keep your guns like new. The friction on a gun slide as it recoils can be very damaging to the gun without lubrication. However, oil tends to be too viscous and will run out of the slide over time and be a major pain. Slide Glide stays in the slide and keeps lubricating. Since it stays in the slide so well it doesn't have to be re-applied very often and this tub will last you forever even if you have several guns. It's the best product I've found for slides and is well worth the cost. Standard has always been good for my applications but it comes in light and heavy too if you have special circumstances. Something with firm, less flexible bristles is best for application in my opinion (I'm using a brush that comes with tubes of mustache wax, I found one and it just happened to work very well). I've found things like paintbrushes are usually too flimsy and flexible to make for easy application, but as always, YMMV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Lube, May 30, 2011

This gun lube is a bit different than others I have used. It is stickier and tends to stay put. It also seems to coushon some of the movement of the slide in semi-autos. It works well in 22's in particular and helps with the cycling with a lower power cartridge. One downside is that it does seem to attract more gunpowder debris so the guns you use it in do need to be cleaned more often imo and more meticulously. A little goes a long way. I like it.
